Groundstrokes Academy is the new name for the acclaimed CF Tennis Academy, which opened back in 1996. Now under new ownership, Groundstrokes Academy continues to offer exceptional coaching and essential tennis services to schools throughout KZN, as well as the general public.

 

We are situated in areas including the Midlands (Michaelhouse), Hilton and Pietermaritzburg. The academy has achieved notable success of late, developing junior and senior tennis players who have gone on to represent regional, provincial and national teams.

2023 marks a decade of me being a tennis coach and having experienced and achieved what I already have, I can proudly say I am very optimistic for the growth of Groundstrokes Academy and Midlands tennis as a whole.

My boys started tennis with the passionate CF tennis coaches when they were 4 & 5. They were taught to love & master the game by always having fun while they reached the next level. Tennis is so character building: one umpires oneself from an early age; learns to navigate the less honest opponent; and survive the mental game of being down & not serving a double. Life lessons that will only strengthen one for other sports & challenges. Mitch is such a great mentor & excellent coach for Luka - developing his talent while also guiding him through the challenges of Form 2 at Maritzburg College. His weekly morning coaching sessions at school are one of the highlights of Luka's week. Thx to the whole team & all the best with the transition to Groundstrokes Academy!

My experience at the Tennis club was really good, I had fun whilst learning to play. The coaches are experienced in the sport and understand how to teach any level. Friday night Tennis is fun and a great way to socialize with other players, and the parents seem to enjoy the bar facilities. Over all I enjoy being a Free Range Chicken. 🙂
